Description
The 1969 (S) Jefferson Nickel was struck at the San Francisco Mint as a nickel in the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint produced 123.0 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Standard production from Philadelphia and Denver with healthy mintages. The San Francisco Mint, a Gold Rush-era institution, now specializes in proof and collector coinage. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $3 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4083.
