1969-S Doubled Die Reverse DDR-007

Description

A directional gradient distinguishes DDR-007 on the 1969-S Jefferson Nickel: light spread appears on OF AMERICA, accompanied by very light spread on E PLURIBUS UNUM that increases in visibility from left to right across the motto. This progressive intensification is a hallmark of pivoted hub doubling, where angular displacement grows with distance from the pivot axis — the rightmost letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM received more offset than the leftmost, creating a traceable gradient. Die markers UVC-1365 and DMR-018 confirm the working die. The primary pickup point is OF AMERICA, where light spread produces consistent thickening, while E PLURIBUS UNUM requires comparison of the leftmost E against the rightmost M to appreciate the increasing displacement. Felix Schlag's reverse positions these inscriptions above Monticello. The 1969-S was struck at the San Francisco Mint in copper-nickel composition. Examination under 10x magnification, starting with OF AMERICA and scanning E PLURIBUS UNUM from right to left, reveals the directional gradient.
