Description
The 1921 Morgan Dollar is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Morgan Dollars 1878-1921 series. The U.S. Mint produced 44.7 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 52% of the year's production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. Revived for one year before being replaced by the Peace Dollar. Struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco with very high mintages. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $87 to $318 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7297.
