The obverse features a swimmer in action cutting through the water, while the reverse displays the mark of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games with the Olympic Flame, Torch, and Rings. Designed by William Krawczewics/Malcolm Farley. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. The swimming half dollar captures the fluid motion of competitive swimming and completes the set of four half dollar designs in the Atlanta Olympic program.
