Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1963 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. The U.S. Mint produced 67.1 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 75% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Final year of the Franklin Half Dollar, replaced by the Kennedy Half Dollar in 1964 following President Kennedy's assassination. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $79 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6685.
