Description

Among the most prominent doubled die obverses cataloged for the 2018 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Shield Cent, WDDO-001 exhibits moderate extra thickness on the date and LIBERTY, with additional thickening on IN GOD WE TRUST where the spread decreases from left to right. This graduated reduction in doubling intensity across the motto is characteristic of hub misalignment during the hubbing process, where the angular offset between hub and die created progressively weaker impressions along the inscription's path.
