All three denominations feature identical obverse and reverse designs — unusual for a multi-denomination commemorative program. The obverse features two women — an older woman and a younger woman with a head scarf — with a butterfly flying above, while the reverse displays a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in flight. Designed by Emily Damstra. Struck in copper-nickel, weighing 11.34 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
