2007D-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trail lines from the top left corners of the letters in LIBERTY at an offset direction of 340 degrees identify this Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent found by David Miller. The near-360-degree offset produces trail lines extending almost directly upward and slightly left from the letter tops. Die markers at Stage C: obverse is LDS with a small die gouge to the right of the N of IN; reverse is LDS with a large die chip in the upper arch of bay 1 that migrates into the upper part of column 2. The reverse die chip spanning from the bay 1 arch into column 2 documents a significant area of die material loss. Struck in copper-plated zinc at 2.5 grams and 19.05 mm, the 2007-D was produced at Denver during the penultimate year of Gasparro's fifty-year Memorial reverse design before the 2009 Bicentennial and 2010 Shield reverse transitions.
