Description
The 2000 (P) Maryland State Quarter represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the State Quarters 1999-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 678.2 million examples, making this ranked 8th of 10 mint variants by mintage, with 10% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs representing each of the 50 U.S. states, released in the order of statehood ratification. The reverse highlights the Maryland Statehouse dome in Annapolis, surrounded by white oak leaf clusters. The Statehouse is the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use and served as the nation's capital from 1783 to 1784. Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia. The program drove an estimated 147 million Americans to collect quarters. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $5 depending on grade and condition.
