The 1998 Robert F. Kennedy Commemorative Dollar is a United States commemorative dollar. Authorized to mark the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. RFK served as U.S. Attorney General under his brother President John F. Kennedy and later as a U.S. Senator from New York. He was assassinated while campaigning for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination. The obverse features a portrait of Senator Robert F. Kennedy facing directly at the viewer, while the reverse displays the eagle and shield from the Seal of the Department of Justice overlapped by the Seal of the United States Senate. Designed by Thomas D. Rogers. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. The RFK dollar is one of the few commemoratives honoring a political figure who was neither president nor military leader, recognizing his impact on American justice and public service.
