Description

WDDO-002 on the 1970-D Washington Quarter is a major variety showing a very strong counterclockwise spread from a pivot at approximately 9:00 on IN and TRUST, the date, the designer's initials, the lower queue, and LIBERTY. The strong CCW spread pivoting at 9:00 is the hallmark of a Class I rotational doubled die, where the hub was indexed at a slight angular offset before the second hubbing impression was applied.
