The 1969 (S) Lincoln Memorial Cent represents a San Francisco Mint issue from the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 544.4 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. The 1969-S Doubled Die Obverse is one of the most valuable modern Lincoln Cent varieties. The San Francisco Mint, a Gold Rush-era institution, now specializes in proof and collector coinage.
