Description

A counterclockwise spread defines this 1969-D Kennedy Half Dollar doubled die, with the rotation visible on all letters of USA, HALF DOLLAR, every star in the circle, the rays, and all stars below the clouds on the reverse. The obverse die is shared with WDDO-006, creating a die marriage that links these two catalog entries. Reverse die markers include a die clash between the lower right leaf and the bottom feathers of the eagle's right wing, a vertical die scratch to the left of the L in HALF, and another vertical scratch between the two L's of DOLLAR. Cross-referenced as CONECA 10-R-I, this regular strike variety from the Denver Mint showcases how counterclockwise hub rotation during the die-making process displaces the entire reverse design in a rotational pattern.
