1968-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001
Error
Description
This 1968-D Roosevelt Dime carries a D/D West repunched mintmark, making it the first WRPM-listed variety for the date and the primary RPM reference for 1968-D dimes. Cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #1 and attributed by the Wexler Team under Wexler Variety ID 1968-D 10c WRPM-001. The listing is a replacement entry — the original documentation files were not present in the Bordner reference archive. 1968 was the first year the Denver Mint struck dimes after the 1965-1967 Special Mint Set interlude, and mintmark punching in this period was still performed by hand before the Mint transitioned to hub-punched mintmarks in later decades, making RPM varieties a natural byproduct of the process. Die markers confirm attribution: the obverse shows a strong ENE/WSW die scratch above the 96 of the date, NE/SW die scratches in the area of WE and the first T of TRUST, strong NE/SW die scratches inside the O of GOD, and numerous lighter die scratches throughout IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse carries two N/S die scratches at the upper opening of the S in PLURIBUS. Cross-references: CONECA RPM #1; Wexler Variety ID 1968-D 10c WRPM-001. Reverse: None noted.Submitted By:Cross References: CONECA: RPM #2Comments: This is a replacement listing, the original files were not present in the Bordner files.
