Description

Cross-referenced as FS-502, this 1910-S Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-002 is cataloged by VarietyVista under UVC-005 and DMR-004, showing an S/S North repunch. Three die states trace the die's life: Stage A presents both obverse and reverse in early die state. Stage B develops a die crack from the rim at 9:30 running ESE, a light N-S crack on the shoulder, a crack from the lower right wheat to the rim, and a crack from the middle left wheat to the rim — all consistent with mid-die-state deterioration. Stage C is listed as late die state but unconfirmed, suggesting the variety has been observed but not fully documented at its most deteriorated condition. The 1910-S is a key early date for Lincoln Wheat Cent RPMs — only the second year of production — and San Francisco's modest output makes documented varieties scarcer than equivalent Philadelphia finds. The FS-502 cross-reference places this among the most recognized varieties for the date.
