1911-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-504, this VarietyVista-documented 1911-D Lincoln Wheat Cent displays a D/D/D South, Southeast triple-punched mintmark from only the third year of Denver Mint Lincoln Cent production. Die markers UVC-1079 / DMR-005 track three stages: Stage A with obverse and reverse at EDS; Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C at LDS with a very weak secondary mintmark, a die crack over the lower shoulder, and a die crack from the right wheat lines to the rim. The FS-504 Cherrypickers' listing places this among actively sought early-date Lincoln Cent RPMs. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1911-D had a mintage of only approximately 12.7 million pieces, making die varieties from this date inherently scarce compared to later, higher-mintage Denver issues.
