1964 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1964 25¢ WDDR-005 and extensively cross-referenced as CONECA 4-R-V and Cherrypickers FS-25-1964-804, this Washington Silver Quarter presents a strong counterclockwise spread from a pivot at approximately 12 o'clock, visible on QUARTER DOLLAR, UNITED, the STA of STATES, AMERICA, the talons, and the wreath. The CCW spread from a top-center pivot creates maximum displacement at the bottom of the die — placing the greatest visible separation on QUARTER DOLLAR at the coin's base while diminishing toward the top near the pivot point. The CONECA Class V designation indicates Pivoted Hub Doubling. Obverse die markers include a die scratch running north from the top of the G in GOD and a die crack running across the base of the bust into the lower queue. Reverse markers show a die crack running southeast from the back of the eagle's head ending in a small die chip and a die crack on the eagle's right wing below the UN of UNITED.
