Attributed by the Wexler Team on a proof striking of the 1964 Roosevelt Silver Dime, this eighteenth doubled die reverse shows notching on UNITED and extra thickness on E PLU of the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Notching — where individual letters display serrated or stepped edges — is a diagnostic indicator of hub doubling that differs visually from the smooth spread of design elements, and its presence on UNITED alongside the thickened E PLU confirms a hub shift between impressions during proof die preparation. Die markers include a blunt tail 9 on the obverse (no other significant obverse markers), a die gouge to the left of the upper second A in AMERICA, and a die gouge to the right of the lower M in DIME on the reverse.
