1964 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-013
ErrorDescription
Cataloged by the Wexler Team, the 1964 Proof Roosevelt Dime WDDR-013 displays Class V counterclockwise (CCW) spread from a pivot point located at approximately 1 o'clock on the die face, visible on USA, ONE DIME, E PLU, and the left dot. Class V doubling results from the hub being tilted on a pivot point, creating rotational spread that varies in intensity based on distance from the pivot — the strongest doubling appears in the lower left quadrant, diagonally opposite the 1 o'clock pivot. The obverse carries a Blunt tail 9 characteristic (similar to the ODV-011 hub variant seen on other Roosevelt Dime dates), though no other significant die markers are noted on either side. An important attribution note distinguishes this from WDDR-014: the WDDR-013 does not show doubling on the upper olive branches, while WDDR-014 does — providing a clear differentiation point between two otherwise similar varieties. The 1964 Proof Roosevelt Dime represents the final year of 90% silver proof dime production, and Class V pivot-based doubling creates a distinctive pattern where the spread radiates outward from the pivot point, strongest at the maximum distance and diminishing as it approaches the pivot's location.
