1964 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-009

Description

Struck as a proof at the Philadelphia Mint in the final year of 90% silver dime production, WDDR-009 on the 1964 Roosevelt Dime displays notching on the upper letters of UNITED with light extra thickness on E PLU. Die markers on the obverse include a blunt tail on the 9, though no other significant obverse markers have been noted. Notching—a form of doubling where the letter serifs show step-like irregularities rather than smooth curves—is a diagnostic hallmark of certain doubled die classes and provides attribution evidence even on well-circulated examples where broader spread might be worn away.
