With doubling distributed across three separate reverse design areas, DDR-012 on the 1964 Philadelphia Washington Quarter exhibits light spread on QUARTER DOLLAR, both the olive and laurel stems, and AMERICA. The simultaneous involvement of the denomination text, the branch stems flanking the eagle, and a portion of the national inscription reflects a hub displacement broad enough in its effect to touch multiple zones of John Flanagan's reverse design. The 1964 quarter occupies a pivotal position in American numismatics as the final year of 90% silver composition for circulating quarters — the Coinage Act of 1965 would replace silver with copper-nickel clad beginning the following year.
