Description
The 1955 (D) Roosevelt Dime is a dime produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. With a mintage of 14.0 million, this is a scarce issue โ ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 31% of production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Relatively low mintages at Philadelphia and San Francisco make this a semi-key year. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $15 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5110.
