Description

Light spread manifesting across three-quarters of the vertical bar on LIBERTY, the date, and IN GOD WE TRUST identifies this wartime 1944 Washington silver quarter as DDO-001, cataloged by VarietyVista under UVC-0377 with die markers DMR-002. Four documented die stages trace the life of this obverse die from fresh to exhausted. Stage A (EDS) and Stage B (MDS) remain unconfirmed, awaiting specimen submissions at those early and mid-life conditions. Stage C captures the obverse at late-mid-die-state while the reverse -- itself listed as DDR-001 -- reaches full late die state, creating another dual-variety die marriage. Stage D sees the development of a die crack at the back of Washington's hair extending into the field between T and Y of LIBERTY, confirming the die had reached late die state, while the reverse progresses to very late die state.
