Description

Notable as a dual variety, this 1940 Lincoln Wheat Cent DDO-004 pairs its obverse doubling with a DDR-014 reverse, meaning both sides of coins from this die marriage exhibit hub doubling from separate die preparation events. Medium spread appears on the eyelid in the East and Northeast directions. Die markers include UVC-2515 and die marriage DMR-018. Stage A shows the obverse in Early-to-Mid Die State with the reverse as DDR-014 also in EMDS, accompanied by a die gouge over LU of PLURIBUS. Stage B advances to Mid-Die State, displaying a die crack through V.D.B., a die crack on the lower lapel, and a die crack in the lower right wheat grains.
