Description

Light spread directed east on Lincoln's eyelid provides a subtle but distinctive diagnostic for this second cataloged doubled die obverse on the 1937 Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent. Eyelid doubling ranks among the most prized DDO features in the Lincoln Cent series because it involves a facial characteristic of Victor David Brenner's portrait rather than peripheral lettering or numerals. Cataloged by VarietyVista under UVC-1391 with die marker reference DMR-008, three die stages document the die's working life. Stage B shows both obverse and reverse reaching Mid Die State (MDS), while Early and Late Die State remain unconfirmed.
