Error
Description
Bearing a D/D North displacement documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Buffalo Nickel carries die markers UVC-145 / DMR-005. Three stages: Stage A EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B reverse and obverse MDS; Stage C LDS (unconfirmed). The cataloger requests new color, high-magnification digital photographs from a specimen. James Earle Fraser's design features a composite Native American portrait and a bison, with the D mintmark beneath FIVE CENTS in a recessed area susceptible to positional variation during hand-punching. Struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, the 1935-D had a mintage of roughly 12.1 million. RPMs on Buffalo Nickels are collectible due to the series' short 1913-1938 production span and the limited number of surviving die varieties relative to longer-running denominations.
