Description

Seventh reverse cud for the 1919-S Lincoln Wheat Cent, falling near the middle of at least fifteen documented rim failures for this remarkably productive date. Post-WWI economic conditions drove sustained small-coinage demand, and San Francisco's output of approximately 139 million cents pushed dies through extended runs. Rim fractures concentrate where the raised rim forms against the collar during each press cycle. When the section separates, metal fills the cavity during subsequent strikes. Cross-referenced as CU-1C-1919S-07R, 08 & 09, cataloged by Cuds on Coins — a mid-sequence entry in the extensive 1919-S inventory. This example has three rim cuds.
