Description
This 1919 (S) Lincoln Wheat cent displays a rim cud on the reverse positioned just clockwise of 6:00. The break sits at the bottom of the reverse near ONE CENT, where the raised rim meets the collar and striking forces concentrate. When the fractured rim section separated from the die, the resulting cavity filled with bronze on every following strike, producing the raised featureless plateau visible at the coin's edge. Cuds at the 6:00 position are distinguished from one another by the angular width of the break and its exact relationship to the surrounding design elements.
