Description

Class VIII tilted hub doubling on GOD WE TRUST makes the 2023 Philadelphia Jefferson Nickel WDDO-007 a modern variety attributed by Brian A. Ribar and cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 2023-P WDDO-007. The obverse carries a diagnostic die gouge between the O and D of GOD, while the reverse is listed as WDDR-110 — indicating this obverse die was paired with a reverse that also carries its own doubled die designation, creating a dual-doubled die marriage. Class VIII doubling results from a tilted hub during the hubbing process, producing localized separation rather than the uniform spread of Class I varieties. The Jefferson Nickel's 2023 issue uses the Schlag obverse reinstated in 2006 after the Westward Journey interlude, paired with a revised Monticello reverse. Dual-doubled die marriages where both obverse and reverse carry separate DDO and DDR designations are uncommon and represent enhanced collectibility for variety specialists.
