Description

Found on the American Memorial National Park quarter from the America the Beautiful series, this rim cud error occurred when a piece of the die broke away at the rim, creating a raised featureless blob at the edge of the coin. The American Memorial Park design commemorates the site in the Northern Mariana Islands honoring those who served in the Mariana Islands campaign during World War II. This variety was documented on 09/30/2019. Rim cuds are among the more visually dramatic die errors, as the missing die fragment produces a distinctive raised area that contrasts sharply with the surrounding detailed design.
