The coin is struck on a copper-plated zinc planchet weighing 2.5 grams and measuring 19 mm in diameter at the Philadelphia Mint. Obverse die markers for attribution include a small die gouge (dot) below the left side of the B in LIBERTY and a small die gouge (dot) just to the left of the top of the P mintmark. On the reverse, a die chip sits on the top left of the shield north of the first U in PLURIBUS.
