2013 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

The third doubled die obverse identified for the 2013 Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial quarter, the WDDO-003 completes a notable trio of Philadelphia-mint DDOs from this single ATB issue. Attributed by the Wexler Team as 2013-P 25c OH WDDO-003, this regular strike variety emerged from yet another distinct hubbing misalignment, producing its own unique doubling signature. Three recognized DDOs from one ATB quarter design is relatively uncommon in the series, making the Perry's Victory issue particularly interesting for variety collectors. Each of the three varieties — WDDO-001, -002, and -003 — should be distinguished by the specific location and character of the doubling on Washington's portrait and obverse inscriptions.
