First documented obverse trail die for the 2008 Philadelphia Mint John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar in Position A edge lettering, this variety is cataloged by Trail Dies under the 100DEO-001T designation. In Stage A early die state, the obverse bears a small die dot on Monroe's forehead — a production artifact referencing the die manufacturing sequence, where shared tooling or hub elements between presidential portrait dies could transfer features. The reverse is in early die state with no specific markers noted. John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States and son of second President John Adams, appeared on the 2008 Presidential Dollar alongside James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren. Struck in manganese brass clad composition, Presidential Dollars feature edge-incused lettering containing the date, mint mark, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
