Description

Reversing the word order in its published description to list TRUST before the date, the 1989 DDO-007 shows medium extra thickness on TRUST and the date — the same design elements affected on several companion varieties, but from an independently prepared working die. Cataloged by VarietyVista with reference codes UVC-3094 and DMR-009, the high UVC number confirms this as a later addition to the master catalog, discovered and submitted after the earlier-numbered 1989 DDO varieties had been established. The sequence of eight 1989 Philadelphia Mint doubled die obverses (DDO-002 through DDO-009 in the VarietyVista system) documents a clustering of hubbing anomalies that speaks to the die production environment at the Philadelphia Mint during this period. Each die in this series experienced its own unique misalignment event during the hubbing process, yet the resulting doubling consistently manifests on the same design elements — the date numerals and the TRUST legend — because these areas of the obverse are geometrically positioned where rotational or translational hub displacement produces the most visible effect. The DMR-009 designation links this variety to its position in VarietyVista's internal die marker reference system. Struck on copper-plated zinc planchets (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper) at 2.5 grams and 19mm.
