Description
The 1983 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent was struck at the Denver Mint as a cent in the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. The 1983 Doubled Die Reverse is a notable variety, and this was the first full year of zinc composition. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906.
