Less prominent than the FS-101 DDO-001 but still a documented hub doubling variety, the 1983-D Lincoln Memorial cent DDO-002 displays light extra thickness on the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and LIBERTY. Unlike the bold southward spread of DDO-001's extra earlobe, this variety's doubling manifests as subtle thickening of the lettering and numerals — a secondary image so closely spaced to the primary that it reads more as design width variation than as distinctly separated elements. Detection typically requires at least 5x to 10x magnification and careful comparison against known single-die reference specimens, as the extra thickness can be confused with die deterioration doubling or strike doubling by inexperienced attributors.
