The CONECA designation 1-O-I classifies it as Class I Rotated Hub Doubling on the obverse, and a strong clockwise spread is visible on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and LIBERTY — making this one of the more dramatic doubled die obverses in the early 1970s Kennedy Half series. Die markers on the reverse include a die scratch running SW/NE above the first L in DOLLAR and intersecting die scratches forming an "X" above the A in HALF, distinctive enough to confirm the die without relying solely on the doubling.
