1971-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

The 1971-D Eisenhower Dollar WDDR-003 exhibits a close Class I clockwise spread on the reverse, affecting USA, the 13 stars, and ONE DOLLAR. Class I rotated hub doubling produces separation that fans outward from a center point as the secondary impression rotates relative to the primary. The Wexler Variety ID is 1971-D $1 WDDR-003. A key attribution note: the reverse die is the scarce Four Island variety, a less common reverse type for the 1971-D Eisenhower Dollar. The combination of the doubled die and the Four Island reverse makes this a two-feature variety of elevated collector interest. Die markers document both sides. On the obverse, a short diagonal die gouge is present between the tops of the U and S in TRUST, and a die scratch runs east-southeast from the top right of the second 1 in the date. On the reverse, a die gouge is present at the rim above the right side of the E in AMERICA.
