Description

Identified by die markers UVC-2806 and DMR-009, DDO-008 on the 1970 Lincoln Memorial cent exhibits light spread and hubbing as an extra bar below the 7 of the date. Both the spread magnitude and hubbing depth are light, meaning the hub displacement was minor and the secondary impression shallow — producing the most subtle class of doubled die obverse, requiring 10x or higher magnification for reliable detection. The extra bar below the 7 positions DDO-008's doubling in the same vertical zone as DDO-006's below-70 spread, though the two are struck from entirely different dies with distinct surface characteristics. Light-spread varieties document the full range of hub misalignment events during die production, from dramatic major varieties down to barely perceptible shifts that only trained eyes detect. Collectors pursuing a complete 1970-P DDO set will find DDO-008 among the more challenging attributions, as light doubling can be obscured by even modest circulation wear.
