Description

An unusual combination of strong spread but light hubbing characterizes DDO-007 on the 1970 Lincoln Memorial cent, producing a small extra bar above the 7 of the date that is narrow despite originating from a significant hub displacement. This seemingly contradictory pairing occurs when the hub shifts substantially between impressions but the secondary impression is shallow, leaving only a thin trace rather than bold, fully formed doubling. Tracked under die markers UVC-2805 and DMR-008, DDO-007 challenges attributors because the small extra bar can be difficult to distinguish from die scratches at first glance. The key diagnostic is the bar's contour: it follows the curve of the 7's top stroke precisely, matching the design geometry in a way random die marks cannot replicate. The UVC number in the 2800s places DDO-007 later in the cataloging sequence than the 2200-series varieties, suggesting it was discovered after the initial wave of 1970-P DDO attributions.
