1969-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001
Error
Description
Cataloged by VarietyVista under die tracking codes UVC-527 and DMR-002, the 1969-D Roosevelt Dime RPM-001 carries the Cherrypickers' Guide designation FS-501, placing it among the officially recognized repunched mintmark varieties in mainstream numismatic reference literature. The variety is a D&D Northeast repunching — the secondary D impression is displaced to the northeast of the primary, a direction that places the ghost impression above and to the right of the final D position. Roosevelt Dimes of this era are clad coins (copper core with cupro-nickel cladding), and the Denver Mint's RPM varieties for the late 1960s are particularly sought in Mint Set examples, where the coins were handled more carefully than pocket change and typically exhibit sharper detail. RPM-001 was noted as findable in Mint Sets, which remain a productive hunting ground today. The variety progresses through three basic die stages. At 7x magnification the northeast secondary impression is visible at the top-right of the primary D, particularly at the upper flag and upper serif of the letter where separation from the primary is greatest.
