1963 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-006

Description

Proof Roosevelt dimes from the early 1960s were produced exclusively at the Philadelphia Mint in sets that sold to collectors by the hundreds of thousands, and DDO-006 documents a working die from this production that carried medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, the designer's JS initials, and the date. Medium classification means the secondary images sit clearly apart from the primary under moderate magnification — a degree of hub displacement notable on a proof die, where manufacturing tolerances were generally tighter than for business strike production.
