Attributed by Richard Ray and cross-referenced as Wexler 1962 WDDO-005 Proof, this proof Jefferson Nickel obverse displays a compound Class II + V Distorted and Pivoted Hub Doubling — a combination of two distinct doubling mechanisms where both hub distortion and pivotal rotation contributed to the secondary impression. Close Class II and Class V doubling is visible on IN GOD WE TRUST. This variety carries a notable attribution history: it was formerly listed as WDDO-075 and replaces the original WDDO-005 listing, which was delisted for being too minor — meaning the current WDDO-005 exhibits stronger doubling than its predecessor while inheriting the catalog number. Obverse die markers include a die scratch on the rim above the date, while the reverse shows a small die dot above the large center semicircular window of Monticello and die scratches on the rim to the lower left of the first S of STATES.
