The third documented repunched mint mark for the 1962-D Washington Quarter, RPM-003 displays a D/D repunching in the northeast direction — the initial D placement was followed by a second impression shifted slightly up and to the right, leaving the original punch position visible as a shadow to the southwest of the final mint mark. Cross-referenced as FS-501, this variety carries Fivaz-Stanton recognition confirming its significance within the Washington Quarter series. The northeast repunching direction indicates the die sinker shifted the mint mark punch up and to the right during the hand-punching process that was standard practice during this era of coin production.
