1962-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002
Error
Description
The 1962-D Washington Quarter WDDR-002 shows a clockwise spread from a pivot point at approximately 9:00 on the die, with doubling visible on STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and QUARTER DOLLAR — a broad distribution across nearly all major reverse legend elements. The CW rotation produces doubling strongest farthest from the pivot and diminishing toward it. Wexler attribution is 1962-D 25¢ WDDR-002, cross-referenced as CONECA 2-R-V — a Class 2 clockwise rotated hub doubling on the reverse. Die markers are defined on both sides. The obverse carries a die scratch from the lower G to the upper R in TRUST. The reverse shows diagonal die scratches through the lower M in AMERICA and a separate die scratch connecting the upper O and F of OF. These two independent reverse markers provide authentication support beyond the doubling itself. The 1962-D Washington Quarter was struck in 90% silver at Denver, with the series continuing in that composition through 1964.
