1962-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-006

Description

Among the final silver Roosevelt Dime RPM varieties before the 1965 composition change, this 1962-D RPM-006 documented by VarietyVista shows D/D South. Die markers UVC-752 / DMR-008 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS with a strong circular die scratch around the upper obverse rim and the reverse at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The circular rim scratch is a particularly distinctive marker, as its continuous arc traversing the upper rim sets this die apart from the vast majority of Roosevelt working dies. Struck at Denver in 1962, this dime is 90% silver and 10% copper, weighing 2.50 grams at 17.91 mm diameter. The 1962-D is one of the final three years silver dimes circulated before the Coinage Act of 1965.
