1960 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-007

Description

Found in Small Date proof sets, this 1960 Philadelphia proof Roosevelt Dime doubled die obverse shows a strong spread on LIBERTY that decreases through the word, with medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, John R. Sinnock's designer initials, and the 6 of the date. The diminishing spread across LIBERTY reveals the rotational geometry of the hub misalignment during die production. Cross-referenced as FS-104 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, this variety benefits from wide recognition in the collecting community. Cataloged by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-340 and DMR-009, three die stages have been documented: Stage A with obverse and reverse in early die state, Stage B at mid die state, and Stage C at late die state.
