1960 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006
Error
Description
Pronounced extra thickness on the designer's initials JS, IN GOD WE TRUST, the lower profile, and the date distinguishes this proof-only 1960 Roosevelt Dime doubled die obverse. John R. Sinnock's portrait, rendered with crisp detail on proof dies, amplifies even moderate hub displacement into clearly visible doubling. Obverse die markers provide robust identification: a short die scratch inside the upper O of GOD, a die scratch between the lower O and D of GOD, and two short die scratches running north from the 9 of the date. Reverse markers include a NE/SW scratch on the top right-hand leaf and a short NE/SW die scratch at the lower right of the P in PLURIBUS. Cross-referenced as 1960 10¢ Pr WDDO-006 under the Wexler system, with no other known attributions. As a proof variety, surviving examples tend to reside in original sets or certified holders, making raw specimens less commonly encountered in the marketplace. Attributed by the Wexler Team.
