1960-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-012
Error
Description
Listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1960-D 10c WRPM-012, this Roosevelt dime variety shows a D/D East repunching, with the secondary D displaced to the east of the primary. The mintmark sits slightly lower than WRPM-008 and the primary mintmark tilts slightly clockwise. Cross-references include CONECA RPM #3 and the Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-10-1960D-501. Obverse die markers include NNE/SSW die scratches above the last T in TRUST, a N/S die scratch in the field right of the designer's initials, and a die scratch SW from the lower left of WE. Reverse markers include a NNW/SSE die scratch connecting the left upper oak leaf to the last flame tip on the right, die scratches ENE from the bottom of the olive branch, and an ENE/WSW die scratch through the right dot. Roosevelt dimes of 1960 are struck in 90% silver at Denver — among the final silver dimes before the Coinage Act of 1965 eliminated silver from the denomination. The combination of CONECA and Cherrypickers cross-references places WRPM-012 among the more thoroughly documented RPM varieties for this date, with multiple published reference points for confirming attribution. Reverse: NNW/SSE die scratch connecting the left upper oak leaf to the last flame tip on the right side.Submitted By: Richard HanaCross References: CONECA: RPM #3, Cherrypickers: FS-10-1960D-501 Obverse: N/S die scratch in the field right from the upper area of the designer’s initials.
