1960-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-011
Error
Description
Submitted by Jeff Longueuay and attributed by the Wexler Team, the 1960-D Roosevelt Dime WRPM-011 features a D/D mintmark that is tilted or rotated from its original position. The primary mintmark sits slightly lower than on WRPM-008 and tilts slightly clockwise, details that help separate this variety from similar repunched mintmark listings in the series. The obverse presents numerous die markers: a north-south die scratch in the field to the right of the upper area of the designer's initials, a die scratch trending southwest from the lower left of WE, additional north-south die scratches in the field to the right of the neck and hair, and a distinctive X-shaped die scratch situated between TY of LIBERTY. The reverse offers complementary diagnostics including a north-south die scratch inside the left leg of M in DIME, a north-south die gouge between M and E of DIME, die scratches running east-northeast from the bottom of the olive branch, and an ENE/WSW die scratch passing through the right dot. This abundance of markers on both sides makes WRPM-011 one of the more readily confirmable Roosevelt Dime repunched mintmark varieties.
